October 9, 1996 – Cardston, Alberta

June 17, 2022 – Calgary, Alberta

Autumn Crosschild of Calgary, AB, passed away on Friday, June 17, 2022 at the age of 25 years.

Autumn was born in Cardston, AB on October 9, 1996. She graduated from Victoria Park High school at the age of 17 and received her High School Diploma in 2014. Additionally, she did General Studies at the Lethbridge Community College. She completed the Early Intervention program; she later completed the Blood Tribe Life Skills program.

Autumn was an amazing jingle dress dancer and she would perform at the Head Smashed in Buffalo Jump. She also played hockey on the Kainai Little Chiefs as defence.

Autumn had many passions and hobbies, but she especially loved spending time with her family. She enjoyed joking, telling stories and reminiscing about her grandparents. She really enjoyed being an aunt to her niece and four nephews. She always wanted to hang out with them. She called them her “Doo doos”. They enjoyed spending time with her and looked forward to seeing her. She was very helpful to her mother and uncle by running errands for them and helping them in any way she could. She was close with her brother Leland as well. We used to call them “Batman and Robin”. She loved all her close friends and did what she could to be there for them.

Autumn loved travelling the Powwow Trail and had planned on going to New York one day. She had many memorable vacations, going to Las Vegas, West Edmonton Mall, Gathering of Nations, New Mexico and travelling the United States. She enjoyed going to the movies, swimming, bowling, girls’ nights with her sister and niece, shopping, and eating out at the malls. She also enjoyed concerts; she was able to see her childhood idol Hillary Duff, as well as Nelly Furtado, Three Days Grace, and Alexis on Fire. She always looked forward to Calgary Stampede, Kainai Indian Days and Whoop up days. She enjoyed our family BBQs, but her favourite was Waterton Lakes especially riding the bikes. Her favourite thing to do was to go for long cruises wherever but mainly through the mountains and listening to music. She loved going to Henderson Lake playground, to walk around the lake and to feed the birds. She also enjoyed going for jogs by St. Mary’s school. She was very creative, Autumn loved to draw, and make cards or beads.

She had the most beautiful smile and such a good vibe to be around.  She took good care of herself and greeted everyone with a smile. She was a very sweet, kind, and supportive person to everyone she knew, even her fur babies too many to mention. She had many good friends she talked about visiting again Avery Delaney, Nicholas Healy, Halle Many Bears, Nadaja Tailfeathers, Merril Whitebear Paul, and Glenda McMaster.  She was very close with her cousins whom she grew up with, Mark, Avery, Weston, Dwight, Nicholas, and the late Ariel Healy Old Shoes, Crystal and Farrah Wolf Child, Darcy Lee Rider, Kelsey Rider, Tanner Rider, She was also close with her late auntie Lisa Rider and the late Robin Rider. When she was 1 or 2 she would say her favourite auntie was Christina.

She will be remembered for how humble, sweet, kind, and gentle she was. She had such a positive aura to her. She was always there for people when she was needed and never expected anything in return. She enjoyed life and always looked forward to the summer.

Her favourite saying when we parted was:

“Don’t say goodbye, it’s I’ll see you later, I love you”.

Autumn is survived by her mother Lesley, uncle Trevor, her brother Leland and sister Nikki-Lee (Tyler), her niece Jolee; her nephews, Creedence, Vannen, Zadden, and Phoenix; her cousins, Brandon and Chantelle Scout, Cheyenne Parsons; her adopted grandmother Bonita Long Time Squirrel; cousins Kevin Rider (Audra) Leon Rider, and Johanna Healy. She was predeceased by her grandparents, Tuffy and Alice and cousin Andrea Rider.
