Obituary of Ray Lauzon

March 11, 1951 - Toronto, Ontario
June 24, 2022 - Calgary, Alberta

Ray Lauzon beloved husband of Janice Lauzon (nee Stafford) of Carstairs, AB, passed away on Friday, June 24, 2022 at the age of 71 years.

Ray was born on March 11, 1951 in Toronto, the first child of Bert and Anita. The family moved to Calgary in 1958. Ray grew up in the Collingwood area, graduated from St. Francis High School in Calgary and then received a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Calgary. He was employed in the wholesale division of the grocery industry for twenty years then transitioned to the retail world with Office Depot, Rona and then Grasse Lumber in Didsbury, where he retired in September 2021.

Ray was a passionate life-long fan of the Montreal Canadians but supported the Flames since their arrival in Calgary. He was also a huge fan of NFL Football specifically the Raiders whether in Oakland, Los Angeles or Las Vegas. Friends knew not to contact him during a game. He loved music of all types, a life-long fan of the Beatles starting back in the early 1960’s.  Later in life he expanded his passion by learning to play classical guitar.

Ray enjoyed reading and learning and taking on-line courses in Canadian history just for interest. He loved to cook, barbeque, and bake bread and for a few years, created chocolate confections to the delight of all recipients. He also enjoyed golf, biking and working in the yard until he was diagnosed with a rare medical condition in 2014 that significantly compromised his physical strength. He was however still able to drive and fulfilled another of his lifelong dreams by purchasing a 1992 Corvette. He could often be seen cruising the countryside around Carstairs where he and Janice have lived since 2008.

Ray was a loving husband, brother, brother-in-law, and uncle and will be remembered for his sharp wit, keen sense of humour and his love of Christmas by his family, friends, co-workers and all who knew him.

Ray is survived by his loving wife of 48 years Janice both of Carstairs, AB; brother, Don Lauzon (Wendy) of Calgary, AB; niece, Alycia Weir (Scott), and baby Henry of Golden, BC; nephew, Graeme Lauzon of Calgary, AB; aunt, Viv Villeneuve of Blind River, ON; sisters-in-law, Carol Morrison of Calgary, AB, and Gay Stafford (Don Arnold) of Airdrie, AB; nieces, Leanne Morrison (Tom) of Calgary, AB, and Tammy Bartlett (Ed) of Penticton, BC; nephew, Dean Morrison (Katrina) of Calgary, AB; great-nieces and nephews, Briana, Braeden, A.J., Hana and Matt.
