Obituary of Donald Mathew Mahura

Donald Mahura, beloved husband of Maria Mahura (nee Kozak), of Calgary, AB, passed away on Wednesday, June 29, 2022, at the age of 89 years.

Don was born in Empress, Alberta, on October 20, 1932. He graduated from the University of Alberta with a degree in Petroleum Engineering in 1955. He began working for The California Standard Company (Chevron Canada) in 1955. He retired in 1993 as Managing Director of Chevron Nigeria.

Don met Maria in March of 1958 and were married three months later.

Besides his loving wife, Don is survived by his children Annamarie Mahura (Philip Sargent), of Whitby, ON; Craig (Dianne) Mahura, of Calgary, AB; Marilyn (Robert) Belsher, of Red Deer, AB; Glen Mahura (Kris Vanover), of Calgary, AB; Gary (Joanne) Mahura of Red Deer, AB. Also survived by his grandchildren, Chad, Brett, Ryan, Brad, Amber, Luke, Kimberly, Spencer, Joshua, Blake, Nycailah, Kathrine, and Keltie.

Don is also survived by his sister, Alouise Henderson of Mississauga, ON, and his brother Bert Mahura of Medicine Hat, AB, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Don was predeceased by his parents, Louis and Helen Mahura, brother, Ted Mahura; and three sisters, Chris Staples, Bev Herman, and Phyllis Martens.

Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers and Tributes at McInnis & Holloway (Crowfoot, 82 Crowfoot Circle NW, Calgary, AB) on Wednesday, July 6, 2022, at 7:00 p.m.

A Celebration of Life will be held at St. Peter’s Roman Catholic Church (541 Silvergrove Drive, NW, Calgary, AB), on Thursday, July 7, 2022, at 11:00 am MST with reception to follow at St. Peter’s.  Family and friends who are unable to attend in person are invited to join Don Mahura’s service streamed live at the church https://www.facebook.com/StPetersRomanCatholicChurch/live on the day of the service.
