Obituary of Lloyd Smith Newton

September 19, 1936 – Cardston, Alberta

July 1, 2022 - Okotoks, Alberta

Lloyd Newton, beloved husband of Catherine “Gerry” Newton (nee Brown), of Calgary, AB, passed away on Friday, July 1, 2022, at the age of 85 years.

It is with a feeling of sadness we say goodbye to a wonderful, caring, compassionate man as he leaves us to join his family members and daughter Marie. Lloyd will be missed by his loving partner of 65 years Gerry, with whom he shared many exciting travels, met new people, working, and loving each other in business and life. Lloyd was happiest when his family was around him; he had stories that could go on for hours. He lived a very interesting life, he enjoyed nature, hunting, fishing, playing bridge at the highest level, and traveling. Everything Lloyd started, he strove to be the best at, and he did. Family was the most important thing to him.

Lloyd leaves behind his beloved wife Gerry, five daughters, Catherine, Margaret, Naomi, Nicole, and Colleen; twenty-six grandchildren; fifty great-grandchildren; sisters, Thea Perrier, Reita Sommerfeld, Peggy and Pat Sloan, and their families.

Funeral Services will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (384 Bannister Dr, Okotoks, AB) on Saturday, July 9, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. Family and friends who are unable to attend can watch Mr Newton's service streamed at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GweEC67IPw8. Condolences, memories, and photos may be shared and viewed here.
