Obituary of Margaret Ann Brown

July 5, 2022 - Calgary, Alberta

 

A partner, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great -grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend, Margaret Brown “Anne”, 84, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones after a long illness at Calgary Cambridge Manor on Tuesday, July 5, 2022.  Margaret was born on July 20, 1937, the fourth of five daughters of James & Irene Sammon. Margaret was a wonderful mother and grandmother who doted on her family.  She was happiest when surrounded by her family. She enjoyed having her family gather, especially her grandchildren,  there was always a place at the table and an extra potato in the pot.

 

She will be missed and forever remembered by her longtime partner, Roamie Malesh, daughters Debbie Baker (Lyle), Marjorie Cowan (Neil), Patricia Brown and son Bill Brown (Linda); grandchildren Tenneal Pasko, Gerald Anderson, Chelaine Crossley, James Brown, Kelly Baker, James Cowan, Vicki Merritt, Jase Brown, Cameron Brown, Kerry Baker,  and Cordell Brown;  20 great-grandchildren, 10 great-great-grandchldren; sister Bernadette Risk (Pete); as well as numerous relatives and friends.

 

She was predeceased by her beloved son, Gordon Brown, daughter-in-law Debbie Tupper; parents, James & Irene Sammon; sisters, Shirley Middleton, Joyce Davie, Patricia Giles and brothers-in-law, Eddie Middleton, Barney Giles.

 

Margaret was born in Calgary at the Holy Cross Hospital and remained in Calgary until her death.  She was a proud Calgarian.  She was brought up in Valleyfield and Ogden, she also lived in the communities of Lynnwood,Scotsman’s Hill, Forest Lawn, and Bowness. The family moved to Bowness in 1967 where for the rest of her life she happily lived, shopped, worked (Buckley Drug Store & Postal Outlet), and proudly participated in the community, a true “Bownesian”. 

 

The family wishes to send a special thank you to the staff at the Cambridge Manor for their care and compassion.  Memorial Donations may be made in her name to the Brenda Stafford Foundation, Seniors’ Care Facility.

 

To honor my Margaret’s wishes, there will be no funeral service. We invite you to please privately celebrate her memory in your own ways. I know that she will be with us all in spirit. Thank you for your understanding during this difficult time. 

 

The family may host a Celebration of Life at a later date.
