Obituary of Evelyn Cecilia Cullum

February 20, 1927 - July 13, 2022

It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of Evelyn Cullum.  Mom passed away in the wee hours of July 13, 2022, at the age of 95 years.

Evelyn was born to Louis and Mary (nee Ursul) Giese on the family farm in Stony Plain, Alberta but resided most of her life in Calgary.  As one of the middle children of ten siblings, she talked fondly of caring for her younger sisters and brothers. Mom was passionate about caring for babies and small children.  She owned and managed the Crib n’ Cradle Nursery and she loved and cared for many foster children in our family home. She could not walk past a stroller without taking a peek!

In 1957 Mom married Kenneth Cullum and they raised their blended family of five children together.  Ev was an excellent homemaker who enjoyed cooking, sewing, gardening, curling, and camping. 

Evelyn is survived by three children, Michelle Cullum (David Hind) and granddaughter Kendall, Keith Cullum (Cathy), Heather Cyr (Jerry); grandchildren Christa, Tannis and Larissa, Todd Cullum, Jodi Cullum, and Brady Cullum. She is also survived by her two sisters, Ilene and Mildred and brother Ron. Mom was predeceased by her husband Ken in 1998, beloved son Jeffrey in 1995 and son Gerald in 2020.

At Evelyn’s request, there will not be a funeral service. Many thanks to our dear friend Wendi Donchi for her love, compassion and friendship shown to Mom.
