Obituary of Stanley Burns

September 24, 1941 – Redcar, England

July 20, 2022 - Calgary, Alberta

 

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Stanley Burns, on Wednesday, July 20, 2022, in Calgary, AB, at the age of 80 years, after a six-year battle with Lewy Body Dementia.

 

Stan was born in 1941 in Redcar, England, to his mother Edna May Scott, and father Royston (Roy) Burns. Stan resided in Calgary for over 40 years and grew to call that home. Among Stan’s many passions soccer was his greatest; where he gained many lifelong friends, who were near and dear to his heart.

 

Stan is survived by his loving wife Eva Burns, three sons, Gary (Beverly), Ian, and Jonathan Burns; stepdaughters, Karen Moore (Storm), and Kimberly Shaw. Stan is also survived by his loving sister Shirley Coates of Redcar; grandchildren, Mykala Hillier (Kyle), Milo, Caleb, Isabella, Emilia, Beth, Maddison, and Ryleigh; as well as numerous nieces and nephews who were dear to his heart.

 

Along with his mother and father, Stan was predeceased by his brothers, John, and Stephen Burns; stepfather John (Jackie) Scott, and grandson Denver Moore.

 

A Celebration of Stan’s Life will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Chapel of The Bells, 2720 Centre Street North, Calgary, AB), on Saturday, July 23, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. Condolences, memories, and photos may be shared and viewed at www.McInnisandHolloway.com.
