Obituary of Tim Friesen

July 23, 2022 – Calgary, Alberta


Tim Friesen of Calgary, AB, passed away on Saturday, July 23, 2022, at the age of 63 years.


Tim was born in Saskatoon, SK on March 1, 1959, and moved to the town of Drake, SK with his family in 1964 where he grew up and attended elementary school. He graduated from Lanigan High School in 1977 and briefly worked at the Alwinsal Potash Mine in Guernsey, SK until leaving in 1978 to attend college in Calgary, AB.


Tim graduated from the Mount Royal College with a degree in Business Administration in 1980 and worked for numerous companies in financial analyst positions for the rest of his life. 


A staunch individualist, he was respected and admired for his work ethic, unique sense of humour, and his caring heart.  His love, infectious smile and support graced friends, team members, and family alike.


Tim had a passion for hockey, learning to ice skate with his brother on a small rink their father would make on a garden plot.  They both would go on to play hockey throughout much of their lives.  He also enjoyed baseball, golf and football, frequently attending games with friends and family.  He also loved his son unequivocally, supporting him endlessly in all endeavours of life.


Tim is survived by his son, Devin Friesen of Calgary, AB, as well as several cousins, extended family and friends. He was predeceased by his brother Dennis Friesen, mother Ruth (nee Schroeder) Friesen, and father John Friesen.
