August 9, 1956 – Leader, Saskatchewan

July 27, 2022 – Calgary, Alberta

Candace Charnetski of Calgary, AB, passed away on Wednesday, July 27, 2022, at the age of 65 years.

Candace was born in Leader, SK and was the daughter of Vern and Margaret Charnetski (Bitz) who predeceased her. She was also predeceased by her grandparents and many aunts, uncles, and relatives.  One in particular, Aunt Jean who was very special and close to her. Candace is survived by her brother Dwight Charnetski (Sharon), niece Amanda, nephew Ryan, stepmother Darlene Winter (Harold); stepsisters, Karri Wagman (David), Tracy Arnholtz (David), and Carla Hamarsnes (Arne). She also leaves numerous relatives and many very close friends who were like family to her.

Candace grew up in Prelate, SK. She was a humble, generous, kind, empathetic and loving person. If you had the good fortune to be her friend, you were blessed with her sense of humour and love. Growing up with Candace was an adventure from playing cards, swimming, playing tag, run sheep run, kick the can and riding bike.   Her days were filled with childhood simplicity and fun.

She graduated high school in Prelate in 1974 and then attended the Garbutt Business College in Medicine Hat where she studied secretarial courses. Candace continued her education at SIAST in 1989.  After her education, she worked at Sask. Mutual insurance, Saskatoon Shopper and at Ultramedia Marketing.  She landed her lifelong job at Russel Metals where she worked for 42 years.  She started as a senior administration assistant in Saskatoon and then moved to Calgary in 1991 and continued with Russel Metals as an Admin Manager.  She will be remembered by many.

Candace loved to travel. She went to many destinations but her favorite place to visit was Hawaii. The beauty of Hawaii stole her heart and she loved to explore and gain knowledge on these adventures. She embraced the cultures and the history on her travels.

Throughout the years Candace remained steadfast in her faith in God. She often said, "My life is in God's hands."  She trusted Him completely.

Our dear Candace battled with cancer for almost eight years. She passed away on July 27, 2022 and spent her final days visiting with family and close friends. She will always be remembered for her independence. Candace was very passionate about cancer research and how important it is to keep donating. In lieu of flowers please consider donating to Cancer Research.

Fly free Candace, your suffering is over.  One day there will be a world without cancer.
