August 9, 2022 - Calgary, Alberta

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our family matriarch, mother, sister, grandmother, aunt, and friend Georgie Kaquitts on Tuesday, August 9, 2022, at the age of 89 years.

Georgie was called home by the Creator while surrounded by her loving family at the time of her passing. She was a kind, loving, caring, humble, and giving woman. Her heart was warm, her contagious smile would brighten up your day, and her home was always open to whoever needed a place to stay.

Georgie was born in Clearwater River, AB, and grew up in Rabbit Lake and Hobbema. In the 1960’s she moved back to Morley. In her younger years, Georgie became an avid horsewoman as the only transportation was by horse and wagon. She would train her own horses and share her stories about horse racing with her friends and neighbours that came to visit her.

She also loved to camp at Rabbit Lake every year with the whole family. The traditional teachings taught by her parents and grandparent were shared during this time and will proudly carry on her legacy. She was fluent in Cree and Stoney language.

Georgie loved to travel to various places, especially to the United States where he attended the Gathering of Nations in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She often told the story of how she rode every mode of transportation except a motorcycle.

Georgie will always be the rock that kept the whole family together as she not only raised her own children, but also raised her nieces, nephews, and grandchildren. Her love will continue to live on through us all as her love was unconditional and limitless. Her absence will be missed by everyone who knew her as she had a special love for every single person in her life. She will always be the whole meaning In our lives.

Georgie is survived by her children, Betty, Donna May, Waylon, Mathew (Marilyn), Harvey Sr., Torin (Tammy), and Lawanda (Ian); adopted children, Adam North Peigan (Lena), Elsie Watchmaker (Harry), Garrett Benjamin (Glenna), and Geraldine Powderface; special granddaughter Teshalene (Brent), also her cherished grandchildren, Niki Sky and Dennis; a special great-grandson Joerelle; siblings, Watson Sr., Donna, and Alice Jr.; nieces and nephews from Hobbema whom she cherished, Marlene, Emmett, Evan, and Jeffery Morin; many grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
