Roger McIntosh

Obituary of Roger McIntosh

June 2, 1935 – Semans, Saskatchewan

August 11, 2022 – Calgary, Alberta

Roger McIntosh of Airdrie, AB, passed away on Thursday, August 11, 2022, at the age of 87 years.

Roger passed away peacefully, much like he lived most of his life, quietly and without much fuss. Roger left behind many friends and family who will miss his sense of humour and his kind heart. Roger was an incredibly private man, and he preferred sharing laughs over swapping stories. He made friends everywhere he went, and it was near his home in Airdrie, that he met three of his closest friends, Woody Ouderkirk, Jack Wylie, and Carmen Volk. People always felt close to Roger, including the Dulcina Hospice Staff, who took amazing care of Roger until the end.

Roger left behind a huge emptiness in all who knew him. We are grateful for the amazing courage and strength that Roger showed in his battle with cancer, and we are thankful for the memories and the laughs we shared with him. He will be missed, and we know he is now free from his pain.

Roger will be lovingly remembered by his two brothers George (Carolyn) Mcintosh, and Robert McIntosh; and sisters Sigra (Jim) Ulrich and Louise (Ron) Bunyan; nieces and nephews Darcy (Nancy) Ulrich, Kevin Bunyan, Ken (Tammy) Moore, Tom Moore, Joe McIntosh and his sisters Tammy and Debbie as well as many other family and friends who will carry him in their hearts. Roger was predeceased by his parents Cliff and Wilma McIntosh; brothers Errol, Jim, Ben, and Paul McIntosh; and his sister Nola Moore, as well as his niece Diana Moore and nephew Kevin McIntosh. Roger’s wife Betty McIntosh passed away years ago, as did his companion Linda.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts to Dr. Laaw and every staff member at Dulcina who went the extra mile for Roger. In honour of Roger, please enjoy a cup of tea and an apple fritter and sit outside and enjoy the beauty of nature. “Take care, Mr. Roger. Until we meet again.”

At Roger’s request, there will be no funeral service.

In living memory of Roger McIntosh, a tree will be planted in the Ann & Sandy Cross Conservation Area by McInnis & Holloway Funeral Homes, Chapel of the Bells, 2720 Centre Street North, Calgary, AB T2E 2V6, Telephone: 403-243-8200.
