Obituary of Patricia Margaret Gallagher

Patricia Margaret Gallagher, 99, of Calgary, AB, passed away on Friday, August 12, 2022.
Patricia was born on January 28, 1923, to parents Robert Samuel and Florence Gavin in Montreal, QC. Patricia married Joseph Neil Gallagher in October 1949 and they had four children; Stephen (Roberta), Anne (John Holbrook), Rita (Joe Murphy), Teresa (Deveeda Kumar); six grandchildren; Chris and Adam Furlotte, Robyn Murphy, Zoe and Eva Gallagher, and two great-grandchildren, Liam and Nathan McGarrigle.
Patricia moved from Montreal to Calgary, AB in early 1980 and made new friends by joining the Catholic Women’s League. Patricia wrote poems and stories for the Knights of Columbus bulletin, utilizing her wit and wisdom. Patricia was a landscape and seascape artist and was in her element when dabbling in oils and acrylics. Patricia developed macular degeneration, which slowly eroded her sight and ability to paint, thus she moved onto philanthropy, preparing sandwiches for the homeless shelters, and visiting Carewest Facilities with husband Joe.
Patricia loved music and song and was able to recall lyrics from songs of many eras to the day of her passing. With varied interests in biographies, and nature stories, and even hockey, Patricia held a lust for life throughout. Patricia will be sincerely missed by family and her friends in the Sisters of Providence. There will never be another like her, with her strength and purpose for life and love of God.
Funeral Services will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Fish Creek, 14441 Bannister Road SE, Calgary, AB), with Father Andrew officiating, on Monday, August 29, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. Reception to follow in the Hospitality Centre at the Funeral Home.
