Obituary of Marguerite Anna Duggan

Marguerite Duggan of Calgary, AB, passed away peacefully at the age of 88 years at the Chinook Hospice, Calgary.
Marguerite was born to Theresia (nee Kramer) and John Scheelar, originally from Minnesota, USA, who homesteaded in the Strome, AB, area in 1918. She married Charles Dominic Duggan (of Fenelon Falls, ON) on August 13, 1956, in Strome, AB, and moved to Calgary in 1957. She will be fondly remembered for her love of home, family, friends, games, travel, and knitting. She was a superb baker and cook and made all family occasions special.
Marguerite is survived by her daughters, Debra Duggan (George Eden) of Calgary, and Cherie Duggan of North Vancouver. She is also survived by sisters-in-law Elaine Connolly of Red Deer, AB, Pat Koenig of London, ON, Dolores Duggan of Warren, MI; brother-in-law Dan Duggan of Salmon Arm, B.C., and many generations of nieces and nephews. Marguerite was predeceased by husband Charlie on July 21, 2009, her sisters Alma Badry, Florence Steele, Adeline Scheelar, Gladys Thomson, Marianne Scheelar, Eileen Jukich, Jean Daley, Dolores Steele; and her brothers Julian, Andy, Cecil, Francis, Joseph, and Jack.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Gerard’s Catholic Church (8944 Elbow Drive SW, Calgary) on Friday, September 16, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. A luncheon for family and friends will follow at 1:30 p.m. at Sanderson Ridge Ballroom (2330 - Fish Creek Blvd SW, Calgary). A private Graveside Service will take place at a later date. Condolences, memories, and photos may be shared and viewed here.
If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to the charity of the donor’s choice. The family would like to thank the staff of Rockyview Hospital, Unit 71, and Chinook Hospice for their gentle care of Mom.
