Obituary of Justin Rishy Waghray

July 28, 1986 - August 28, 2022

It is with a very heavy heart that we announce the passing of our dear friend, beloved brother, cherished son, and loving husband, Justin Waghray on Sunday, August 28, 2022, at the age of 36 years.

He is survived by his loving wife Cristina Gomez-Santos, brothers, Derek, and Miles (Jaclyn); and father Ranjit (late Ingrid). For those who knew Justin, he was one of a kind. Justin graduated from the University of Calgary with two degrees in 2010, Engineering (Biomedical and Geomatics), and German. Justin participated in many school programs, spending semesters all over the world, including Hungary and Germany. Justin graduated from the London Business School in 2012 with a master’s degree in Management.

Justin cherished the relationships that he built along his path and was a firm believer in maintaining those relationships. Justin was an entrepreneur at heart, building business plans, ideas, and strategies. At the time of his passing, Justin was working as a Project Manager at Goodwall and maintaining other business projects with friends and colleagues. He lived with his beautiful and loving wife, Cristina, in Bilbao, Spain. They met while living in London and married in 2017. As a couple, they lived in London, Marbella, Bilbao, and Calgary. Justin loved to travel, ski, play music, take photos, run, swim, and bike. He was a man of many talents. Justin had friends all over the world that will be mourning his passing. He had an incredible intellect; speed reading books at a voracious speed and devouring knowledge. Justin was all too happy to share his opinions with others and engage in lively debates. Justin always pushed himself hard to succeed in all his endeavours and helped others to do the same. He was a loving, kind, and generous person and will always be remembered as such. He will be missed by all.

For those wishing to pay tribute, the family will be holding a Celebration of Justin’s Life at Crowfoot McInnis and Holloway (Crowfoot, 82 Crowfoot Circle NW, Calgary, AB), on Saturday, September 3, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. Those wishing to speak at the service are asked to reach out to cf@mhfh.com, and all requests will be forwarded to the family. Family and friends who are unable to attend in person are invited to join Mr. Waghray’s service streamed live (see below) on the day of the service. For those who are unable to view live, a recording of the service will be posted.
