Obituary of William (Bill) Hugh Greig
February 21, 1942 – York County, Ontario
September 3, 2022 – Calgary, Alberta
William “Bill” Greig, beloved husband of June Greig (nee Rachar), of Calgary, AB, passed away on Saturday, September 3, 2022, at the age of 80 years.
Bill was a husband, father, grandfather, and uncle. Later in life, he discovered that he had a family. One was his older sister Cathy, and they were so similar that they could have been twins.
His one true love was his wife of 61 years, June (nee Rachar) Greig. With her at his side, he could accomplish anything; and he did, by graduating from S.A.I.T (Plumbing/Gas Fitting/Pipe Fitting) and starting his own successful business. With true grit and determination, with June and God's help, he took that almost grade 7 education and soared.
His pride knew no bounds as he guided and watched his children, Janice (Murray) Parson, and Mark (Tanya) Greig, progress in life, but he dearly loved his grandsons, Tyler Greig, Zach Greig, and Kyle Greig, and delighted in their unconditional love.
Bill was most comfortable when he was tinkering about the house and garage, re-inventing, renovating, or repairing anything that caught his eye or imagination. The results were artistic and showed fine attention to detail. He also treasured quiet walks in the community and the family hikes in the west country.
How he loved to laugh! Comedies were his favorite, but he also had a serious "get the job done right” attitude. His quiet and genuine faith in Jesus Christ underwent struggles, but he held steadfast to the end.
Dad, we'll miss you! Miss your laugh, your insight, and your love! We're so glad that you're free from the pain and struggle of cancer. You've fought the good fight, now run into your Heavenly Father's arms, and discover how truly loved you really are!
A Memorial Service will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Crowfoot, 82 Crowfoot Circle NW, Calgary, AB), on Saturday, September 10, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. Reception to follow in the Hospitality Centre at the Funeral Home. Condolences, memories, and photos can also be shared and viewed here.
