October 5, 1936 – Brendola, Vicenza, Italy June 25, 2019 – Calgary, Alberta Surrounded by his loving family, Mario De Benedetti passed away peacefully on June 25, 2019 at 82 years of age. Mario was a generous, loving man who brought joy and laughter to those around him. His guiding belief – Prima, la famiglia – showed in his pride of being known as a husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle and cousin by his extended family living in both Canada and Italy. Mario is survived by Clara, his wife of 32 years and his children Maria (Joe), Renato (Debra), Ginetta, Nancy (Martin), Kathy (Mitch), and Paola (Rick). He is also survived by his grandchildren, Lucy (Adam), Joey, Randi (Eddie), Tyler (Renee), Christina (Keigan), Jamie, Rachel, Andrea, Haley (Randy), and Katie, as well as his great-grandchildren Braxton, Cole, Alexis, Calleigh, Levi, and Elizabeth. Mario was predeceased by his father Dominico di Isodoro De Benedetti, his mother Margheria Rigolon, and his brother Luigi. Family and friends are invited to attend the Prayer Service at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY on Tuesday, July 2, 2019 at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church (640 – 19 Avenue N.W, Calgary, AB), on Wednesday, July 3, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. A private internment will follow at a later date. Reception to follow in the Parish Hall.
