Sarah Hamilton

Obituary of Sarah Louise Hamilton

July 2, 1982 - Regina, Saskatchewan

October 8, 2022 - Calgary, Alberta

Sarah Hamilton of Calgary, AB, passed away on Saturday, October 8, 2022 at the age of 40 years.

Sarah was born in Regina, SK on July 2, 1982. She moved to Calgary, AB in 2000. She graduated from the University of Calgary with a double Bachelor’s degree in History and Political Science. Sarah then worked at Mount Royal University as a student advisor. She loved working with the students and faculty, and always enjoyed being involved with higher-level learning.

Sarah loved to travel and anything to do with being in the water. She would take a trip with friends to a cabin in BC every year, and would spend as much time as possible swimming in the lake. She loved attending comic cons, especially if they were going to be centered around her favourite shows. Sarah enjoyed reading anything, from great works to pulp stories. She would tell people her favourite book was Proust’s “In Search of Lost Time,” but would happily read trashy books like “Heart of India”. Sarah loved all the works of Jane Austin. She enjoyed watching her cats (Tulip and Musgrove), although she often grumbled how nothing could ever be left on a shelf after they had moved in. Sarah loved stand-up comedy and would attend shows whenever she had the chance to see her favourite comedians.

Sarah’s most memorable vacation was when she visited Florence, Italy, although she also had a deep love of Paris, France, which she visited multiple times.

Sarah was well known for her enduring love of The Simpsons, which she quoted in almost every conversation she could. She will be most remembered for her wonderful sense of humour and her kindness.

Sarah is survived by her mother Laura Hamilton of Weyburn, SK, her father Elwood (Woody) Hamilton of Calgary, AB, her brother David Hamilton of Beaumont, AB, her sister-in-law Morgan Hamilton in Beaumont, AB, and her three nephews, Oscar, Maxwell, and Alexander.
