January 7, 1937 - Drumheller, Alberta

October 11, 2022 - Calgary, Alberta

Stewart Glen McChesney of Calgary, AB, passed away on Tuesday, October 11, 2022 at the age of 85 years, with his two children, Tom and Peggy and their spouses by his side.

Glen, as he was known to family and friends, was born on January 7, 1937 in Drumheller, AB. He grew up in Red Deer, AB and was the youngest of four children.

Glen worked hard all his life. He entered the workforce at an early age and in 1960, earned his certificate as a journeyman plumber.  In 1965, he started working for Trotter and Morton and spent the next 29 years with them until he retired in 1994. Glen was lucky to find love twice in his life. His first wife, who he married in 1960, was Clara Boychuck. Together, they raised their two children.

Glen is survived by his children, Tom McChesney (Julie) and Peggy Hodgson (Michael) and three grandchildren, Thomas McChesney (Riley), Joel Green and Chase Green. Glen sadly lost Clara to cancer in 2000, after 40 years of marriage.

In 2002, Glen married again and spent 21 years with Madeline Chapman who survives him. This marriage provided him with three stepdaughters, Jan Davidson (Doug), Sandi Novlesky (Gerald) and Brenda Oakley (Dave). He was predeceased by his sisters, Jean Kurchirka (William), Betty Stawnychy (Mike) and brother George McChesney (Violet).

Glen was passionate about dogs and owned many over the years, most who were named “Mickey”.  When taking his dog for walks, he made a point to know every other neighborhood dog too.  Glen was also an avid camper and enjoyed exploring North America in his early years and staying at the ’Property’ near Sundre in the later years. Glen was a kind, gentle and loving soul who will be missed by all who knew him.

At Glen’s request, no Funeral Service will be held. Condolences, memories, and photos can also be shared and viewed here.
