Obituary of Barbara Lynne Pasiechnyk
January 15, 1952 – Eckville, Alberta
October 12, 2022 – Calgary, Alberta
Barbara Pasiechnyk, beloved wife of Lorance Pasiechnyk, of Calgary, AB, passed away on Wednesday, October 12, 2022, at the age of 70 years.
Barbara was born in Eckville, AB on January 15, 1952. Her family lived in Benalto and moved to Red Deer where she spent her teen years. Barbara met Lorance in 1971 while both were working in Edmonton. They were married in 1974, and made their home in Calgary where they have lived ever since.
Barbara loved traveling, especially cruises and visits to Montana House. Her travels took her to various parts of the world, including Europe, South America, the Caribbean and many other places. Barbara cherished time spent with family and friends. Barbara enjoyed watching curling and tennis, as well, cheering on her grandsons in their sporting activities. She will always be remembered for her love of cooking and baking, in particular, her lasagna and caesar salad.
Barbara was a parishioner of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church and a member of the C.W.L. for many years. Many lifelong friendships were a result of her connection to the church.
Barbara’s career in Calgary started in the banking system. Once she had their children, she loved staying at home and caring for them. She enjoyed sewing, crafting and other hobbies. When their children were older she spent many years working in the Calgary Catholic School District.
Besides her loving husband, Barbara is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Carmen and Dustin Larsen of Lethbridge, AB; her son and daughter-in-law, Cayle Pasiechnyk and Karen Sheets of Sparwood, BC; three grandsons, Owen Larsen and Sullivan and Hendrix Pasiechnyk. Barbara is also survived by her sisters, Georgina (Douglas) Rhodes of Eckville, AB, and Karen Vance of Red Deer, AB; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Barbara was predeceased by her parents, George and Dorothy Reitmeier; brothers, Phil, Wayne (Butch) and Robbie Reitmeier; and nieces, Holly Bos, Carrie and Tracey Vance.
Barbara suffered with health issues for much of her adult life, but still never lost her sense of humour or joy for spending time with loved ones. Barbara will be missed dearly by all.
A special thank you to the doctors, nurses and staff of the Rockyview General Hospital, who treated Barbara and her family with such kindness, care and dignity over the last two months. In particular, we would like to express our gratitude to the ICU staff for the care Barbara received in her final days.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church (1414 Shawnessy Boulevard S.W., Calgary, AB) on Tuesday, October 25, 2022 at 12:00 p.m. Graveside Services to follow at St. Patrick’s Cemetery.
