Obituary of Gladys Anne Travadi

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Gladys Anne Travadi, on Thursday, October 13, 2022, at the age of 89 years

Gladys was born in Johannesburg, South Africa on October 25, 1932, to parents Frederick and Elizabeth Theys. After some time, she immigrated to Canada in 1966. She met and married the love of her life, Marcus in 1957. Gladys was a beautiful, creative soul and an overall remarkable human being. She showed us how to be leaders and to have compassion. She was full of wisdom and displayed strength throughout her life.  Gladys enjoyed many things; scrabble, cooking, and traveling were just a few of her hobbies. She was fortunate enough to travel extensively, to experience Africa and Europe. Gladys accomplished much throughout her life and was particularly proud of her family. She will be missed and never forgotten.  Gladys was passionate about social issues and helping those less fortunate. Her compassion and humanity were inspiring.

Gladys is survived by her son, Mark; two daughters, Lauren and Maxine (John Post) of Calgary, AB; grandchildren, Lucas, Audrey, Lennon, Jessica, Rebecca, Robin, Katie and Jennica; great-grandchildren, Shea, Havannah, Mikayla, Denzel, Ledane and Nya. Gladys is also survived by her sister Noelene; brother Jerry; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Gladys was predeceased by her parents, Frederick and Elizabeth; sons, John, and Basil; and her husband, Marcus.

Funeral Services will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Crowfoot, 82 Crowfoot Circle NW, Calgary, AB), on Friday, October 21, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. Graveside Service to follow at Queen’s Park Cemetery. Condolences, memories and photos can also be shared and viewed here.
