Condolences
Hi Dixie,
You and Renee were/are two of my biggest mentors in my life. As I mentioned in Renee’s final notice, you both gave me my first job looking after your lawn in Greenwood Village. Who would have thought that from that job I would meet two of the most important people in my life. While I was always adventures and up for any experience you both showed and exposed this boy over the years that followed to all kind of experiences - from downhill skiing to taking me camping to generating a love of cycling that exists to this day and has taken me to all sort of places (I cycled the dempster highway in the Yukon/NWT), to scuba diving (I still have the post card you sent me from Hawaii when you were both diving there.) and generally showed me how to go out and experience all that life has to offer. And two people who give me the most sage advice when I needed it. And who could forget meeting your dad Bill Kenny - an early icon of the civil rights movement in the US in addition to being a legend and huge influence in the music business with the ink spots to this day (incredible!). But to me he was just Bill. And of course all the patience in the world tutoring me through my school subjects - especially math. We met up in 2003 after almost 30 years of being apart at your place at ghost lake. Your joy of life had not diminished one bit and it continued to gave me that boost. Since then I wanted to reach out to you and introduce you to my son but I just didn’t know how to do it. It will remain one of my biggest regrets. You both would love him.
All said, both you and Renee are two of the most important and beautiful people in my life and I really miss you both even after all these years. Please rest easy. I’m sending you my hugs and when you see Renee please give her a hug from me too.
Thank you for everything
Kent.
My condolences to Dixie's family and friends. I knew her many years ago when she worked at the Glenbow Museum. She was such a lovely person and always very helpful when I had questions or needed help.
To Dixie Lee Kenny family,
I worked with Dix at the Glenbow Museum Conservation Lab for many years. She repaired old books and archival artifacts. She was an interesting fun caring person to work with. I have many good memories of having several lunch visits with her at her home on Ghost Lake. Her lovable cats and watching the many wild birds she supplied heated water in winter. She loved animals and took care of many. Sad to learn of her passing my sympathy to her family.
