Obituary of Dieter Robert
November 14, 1937 - Grunstadt, Germany
October 15, 2022 - Calgary, Alberta
Dieter Robert beloved father of four and husband of the late Joyce Robert, passed away on Saturday, October 15, 2022 at the age of 84 years.
Dieter immigrated to Canada from Germany in 1956 at the age of 18 and settled in Saskatoon where he met and married Joyce. Dieter started his career in Saskatoon as a Butcher and worked his way up to Meat Manager at Co-op and Dominion stores. In 1976 the family moved to Calgary. Dieter and Joyce purchased a Mr. Submarine franchise. They worked very hard and many long hours. After four years they sold the franchise and were lucky to be able to start their retirement early.
Dieter is survived by his children, Penny (Dave) Derouin, Dean Robert, Barbara Robert, and Kim Robert; four grandchildren, Kristy (Mike) Nelson, Jeff (Samantha) Derouin, Janelle (Trevor) Madunovic, and Braeden (Allyson) Robert; seven great-grandchildren, Mackenna, Matthew, Abigail, Angelina, Keira, Desmond and Sunny Joyce Arlene; and one great-great-granddaughter Addisyn. Dieter is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews in Germany. He shared a special bond with his nephew Helmut who he kept in contact with through frequent phone calls. Dieter was predeceased by his loving wife Joyce, his parents, Georg and Hedwig Robert; his siblings, Irmgard, Norbert, Philipp, Helmut, Melita, and Ingrid; and by his great-granddaughter Dougee Heisler-Derouin.
A Celebration of Dieter’s Life will be held on Saturday, October 22, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. Condolences, memories, and photos may be shared and viewed here.
