Obituary of Bruce Graham

June 23, 1943 - Thornbury, Ontario

October 15, 2022 - Calgary, Alberta

H. Bruce Graham escaped this mortal realm on Saturday, 15 of October, 2022, at the age of 79. As he once predictively joked, he no longer needs to worry about Global Warming.

He leaves behind two daughters, Anne and Bonney, an older brother Garry and a myriad of unpaid billiard debts.

Born in 1943, in Thornbury, ON, to Victor and Mae Graham in a time when the wildness of childhood was left to nature’s taming. Luckily his youthful antics and adventures mostly evaded the authorities. Graduating from the University of Sudbury with a degree in geology, he later moved west to Calgary in 1973, to pursue a career in aviation and chase the champagne-powder skiing of the Rocky Mountains.

He excelled at sport, outsmarting squirrels and bandaging appendages with duct tape. He suffered no fools, and despised phonies, but he loved the ones he kept close dearly.

Bruce was predeceased by his sister June, but also survived by two caring ex-wives, numerous nieces and nephews, overgrown house plants and a surprising number of tupperware containers. A seasoned traveler, he chased solar eclipses, and far-off lands. He was a connoisseur of sour dough bread and could unapologetically add pineapple to any culinary dish.

With a passive disdain for religion, Bruce believed in Country Music, that the universe is vast and wondrous, and that cats’ tails are meant to be pulled.

Bruce will be lovingly remembered for his sharp sarcasm, charming smile and undiscerning taste in wine.
