Obituary of Abe Bergen
April 6, 1928 – Blumenhof, Saskatchewan
October 20, 2022 – Calgary, Alberta
Abe Bergen, beloved husband of Grace Murdoch, of Calgary, AB, passed away on Thursday, October 20, 2022 at the age of 94 years.
Abe was born in Blumenhof, SK on April 6, 1928, and graduated from the Flowervale School District. He owned North Line Transport, Bergen Transport, and Bergen and Bayer Transport of Medicine Hat, AB. He also was a truck driving and management instructor at Mount Royal College.
Abe had a passion for music, pool and travelling. He had numerous vacations worldwide, as well as spent many winters in Arizona in 20 years.
Besides his loving wife Grace Murdoch, Abe is survived by one daughter; Karen Bergen of Calgary, AB; two sons and two daughters-in-law, Ken (Phyllis) Bergen of Calgary, AB, and Richard (Barbara) Bergen of Woodbury Village, BC; three grandchildren, Stuart Bergen (Amy Dennis), Michael Bergen (Amber Lafontaine), and Lisa Macauley (Ryan); six great-grandchildren, Sydney, Rachel, Max, Rumi, Aksel, and Erik. Abe is also survived by his brother, John Bergen (Leila). He is also survived by Grace’s children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Abe was predeceased in 2002 by his spouse of 55 years, Edna Bergen; parents Abram and Sara, brother Corrie Bergen, and sister Lena Unger Sept.
Funeral Services will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Crowfoot, 82 Crowfoot Circle NW, Calgary, AB), on Thursday, October 27, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. Reception to follow in the Hospitality Centre at the Funeral Home.
