Obituary of Jeanne Kattler

Jeanne Marie Elaine Kattler, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away peacefully in hospice following a brief stay at Foothills Hospital, in Calgary, AB, on Thursday, October 20, 2022, at the age of 93 years.

Jeanne was born in Lampman, SK, on November 23, 1928. She was the second oldest of five children. Jeanne married Edward on July 3rd, 1954. They were married for 63 years. Together Ed and Jeanne lived in Regina, Winnipeg, Vancouver, Calgary, and Cranbrook, BC. 

Jeanne had a wonderful sense of humour and enjoyed spending time with friends and family. She was very creative and had several interests, like cooking, gardening, cake decorating, flower arranging, playing Bridge, sewing, and golf. But her true passion was painting. In their retirement Jeanne and Ed took up painting. Jeanne loved watercolors best and proved to be very talented. Above all, Jeanne adored her grandchildren. Jeanne’s most memorable vacation was when she and Ed took a cruise to the Caribbean. They also enjoyed spending time in Hawaii.

Jeanne is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Karen Yackel and John Yackel; two grandchildren, Lauren, and Salem Clausen; three step-grandchildren, Jennifer, Katelyn, and Tyler Yackel; her sister Leah Chapdelaine, brother George Chapdelaine, sisters-in-law Joan and Virgina Chapdelaine; and many nieces and nephews. Jeanne was predeceased by her loving husband Edward (Ed), and her brothers Aimie and Laurent Chapdelaine. 

Remembered and missed most will be Jeanne’s sense of humor and her readiness for adventure and her big smile.

A Celebration of Jeanne’s Life will be held at our residence (213 Kingsmere Cove SE, Airdrie, AB) on Saturday, November 5, 2022, from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Condolences, memories and photos may be shared and viewed here.
