Constance (Beverley) Bushell of Calgary, AB, passed away on Wednesday, October 19, 2022, at the age of 89 years.

Beverley was born in Winnipeg, MB, December 7, 1932. Beverley married Roy Bushell on June 23, 1952, at which time they moved to Calgary, AB. They became parishioners of St. Stephen's Anglican Church where lifelong friendships were established. There were short term transfers to Pitcher Butte, Saskatoon, and Penticton with Roy’s work. Then, the final return to Calgary with their four children in 1966. Roy working with Royalite Oil and Beverley at the Bank of Nova Scotia. It was then that they joined the parish of Christ Church Elbow Park. Roy and the children were active in the choir, Bell Ringers, while Beverley was “choir mother” to the boys choir, and active with Altar Guild. Beverley and Roy were active in Workshop Theater, Calgary Opera, and were politically active. Beverley, Roy and their youngest son James, went with the Christ Church Choir to England in the summer of 1974. Later that year, Roy passed away.

Beverley continued volunteering with several organisations; Calgary Widow Services, Feed the Hungry, CUPS, Calgary Stampede, 1988 Olympics and Heritage Park to name a few. She continued her support of political candidates and served on several committees. She was proud to have been selected to receive a 125th Anniversary of the Confederation of Canada Medal for her volunteer commitments Along with her volunteering, she traveled to England, Scotland, Ireland, Sweden and Israel. Beverley loved her garden. She spent many hours sitting on her deck enjoying the flowers and benefits of the vegetables. Her children and grandchildren were recipients of her many sewing/smocking projects.

She is survived by her daughters, Cheyne (Jerry) Parkinson, and Leslie Thompson; sons, Andrew (Marilyn), and James (Eliana) Bushell; grandchildren, Helen Parkinson, Jessica (Dustin) Toll, Megan Thompson, Jacob (Alyssa) Thompson, Tanner and Chad Bushell; and her great-grandchildren, Emmy and Dominic; along with many nieces, nephews, great-nephews and nieces. Beverley is also survived by her brother Blair (Palma) Ledger of Winnipeg, MB and her sister-in-law Lesley Ledger of Vancouver, BC. Beverley was predeceased by her beloved husband, Roy; parents, Ronald and Helen Ledger; brother, Earle Ledger; sisters-in-law, Edith Creal and Margaret Shreck; brothers-in-law, Andrew and Donald Bushell; and her son-in-law, Rod Thompson.  

Funeral Services will be held at Anglican Parish of Christ Church (3602 – 8th Street S.W., Calgary, AB) on Saturday, November 12, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. Reception to follow at the church. Condolences, memories, and photos can also be shared and viewed here.
