Condolences
To the memory of Nina!
Nina was a good reliable person and a friend. I worked with her in the school system of Labrador City and Wabush, Newfoundland and Labrador. It was always a delight to see Nina with that infectious smile and warm greetings in our school which made her such a nice person to be with children in her care.
We visited frequently and we shared many moments together when Alfred passed away. I was fortunate to be a good listener since she really needed to talk about her loss. That was special for me.
Her obituary is beautiful…just the way I remember her and well done for such a great tribute to a great lady on a life well lived. She faced many challenges in her life, but in true Nina’s character, she worked to overcome them.
She had the gift to touch so many in a kind and positive manner which is certainly indicative of her life’s work in education, the professional organizations, her volunteer work and the unconditional support and pride that she had for her family.
Thanks for being such a positive influence, Nina. My regards to the family as you celebrate the many beautiful memories of a great person.
Sincerely,
Gordon Saunders …formerly of Labrador City, NL
May I communicate to all the family my sincere condolences . I met Nina few years in Fermont and Labrador City and I appreciated her quite much as a very joyful person and generous person. I know she loved her children very much and was happy to join them in the West. May you all pass through these times with much serenity.
My deepest condolences to close friends and family of Nina. She was a dear lady.
My sincere condolences to the family. I met Nina through her work with breast cancer and at a number of conferences in Canada as well as the annual conference in NL. Nina was a lovely person and brought smiles wherever she went. I am very happy to have met her.
A life well lived was Nina's... it was my pleasure/privilege to be her friend having served with her on the CBCN (Canadian Breast Cancer Network) board of Directors for years; she represented Labrador and was so well spoken, kind and compassionate. We became friends and I treasure the memory of every opportunity we communicated as she was wise, funny and compassionate. To live to age 89 and be with her beautiful family she loved so much and now a tree planted in her memory - how special. The obituary write up captures her personality quite well - well done! May all the wonderful memories of Nina be of consolation during those lonesome moments... her energy/spirit will nudge you to smile/laughe, be happy... She was a role model of the finest kind. My love to the family. Judy Donovan Whitty, Charlottetown PEI - CBCN Board member
(she was always so proud of the work we do within CBCN across Canada)

I found her to be kind, interesting and very knowledgeable, and we had many great conversations. I am happy to know that she spent her last years with loving family.
God bless,

Remembering Nina always brings a smile to my face. She was always smiling and working hard in some cause. A minor or a major cause, Nina would spend her energy to make things right. The world needs more people like Nina.

Just this week, I thought of Mrs. Burford and wondered how she was. We were merely acquaintances in Lab City. But I was always moved by her commitment to excellence in whatever she did. To her family, whom she dearly loved, please accept my sincere sympathy on your huge loss.
Sincerely
