Condolences
I'm still trying to absorb Bert's death. We knew each other since the beginning of 1961 when my family moved to Windsor Park in Edmonton. The Hollingsheads were our neighbours. Bert and I were part of a close group of neighbourhood friends who, although now mostly separated by years and miles, still remain close. I haven't seen Bert for a few years and even then infrequently. Once in awhile, again infrequently, I and other visiting friends would drop into The Hose to see Bert if we were in Calgary. You knew you would find him there later on any afternoon. Even after a year or more of separation and silence between us, you would ask Bert, "how are you?" "Good" was his reply. "What have you been up to?" "Nothing." Always the same even though you knew "nothing" was not what he'd been doing. Conversation was not Bert's long suit. But it didn't matter. He was a lifelong friend and we still felt deeply for him, and it was always good to see him. I miss him. I guess I have for a while. God bless you Bert. Rest in peace.
My deepest sympathy to the Hollingshead family on Bert's recent passing.
A long time member of the Inglewood Golf and Curling club, he loved golf, was a true gentleman and will be missed.
May he rest in peace.
Kent Gillingwater.
Quiet and unassuming, Bert was a pleasure to golf with. I will miss him.
Such a kind and soft spoken gentleman, taken far too soon from this World, but will get preferential tee-times all the time in his new golfing Heaven. He will be greatly missed by all of the Members and Staff of Inglewood, and our sincerest condolences to his Family.
I enjoyed the rounds we played together, Bert. You were always a true gentleman. Please keep a tee spot for me in your foursome at a nice course upstairs.

Bert was one of the first members I played with when I joined Inglewood. I enjoyed his company and his love for the game of golf. Condolences to the family, Bert will be missed by his many friends at the course.
Bert was a great golfing buddy,
My sincere condolences to the family.
May his soul Rest In Peace and may his memories be a blessing!
Salim.
Bert was the second person David met when he came to Calgary in 1972, and they remained great friends, golfing buddies, and often workmates over the years.
In the early days, Bert attended the “waifs & stays” dinners on high days and holidays, and in later years he was always a welcome guest at our family dinner table. Bert was an amazing walker, a bright mind, and a pretty good red wine drinker. We will miss him.

Fond memories of Bert extend away back to childhood growing up in Windsor Park, including roasting crackers on the garage heater and for several years playing hockey on the same line. My condolences to Gordie, Bill and Gail.
