Obituary of Nancy Jane Oake

Nancy Oake of Calgary, AB, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family and loved ones on Friday, October 28, 2022 at the age of 64 years. Her passing was a planned passing through the M.A.I.D. program.

Nancy is survived by her only daughter, Tali Whittemore, son-in-law Justin Grant, and her granddaughter Madison Grant. She is also survived by her mother Olga Field, her brother Jim Oake, her sisters and brothers-in-law, Talie and Wayne Prokopets, Karen and Jay DeGoesbriand, and Christina and Dan Lausman; as well as her sister Janice Desjardins.

Nancy was an extraordinarily special person who was loved by all who had the privilege of knowing her. She was a wonderful, devoted mother and grandmother, a compassionate and empathetic friend, and a loving daughter and sister. Nancy was one of those rare people who truly and deeply cared for others. A lover of animals, she was particularly devoted to her dogs and took great pride in caring for and spoiling them silly.

Nancy’s absence has left a void in the lives of her family and friends. While we are deeply saddened by her passing, we take comfort in knowing that she is happy, at peace, and free of her pain.

Memorial Services will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Park Memorial, 5008 Elbow Drive SW, Calgary, AB) on Sunday, September 10 at 11:00 a.m.  Reception to follow in the Hospitality Centre at the Funeral Home. Condolences, memories, and photos can also be shared and viewed here.
