October 29, 2022 – Calgary, Alberta

Anne Day of Calgary, AB, passed away on Saturday, October 29, 2022, at the age of 97 years.

Anne was born and raised in Chemainus, BC, on September 29, 1925. Anne met her husband, Roy Day in Chemainus, at the mill where they both worked. They married on August 16, 1947 and lived the first ten years of their marriage in Chemainus, followed by ten years in Calgary and then ten years in Mississauga, ON. Her early pursuit of further education led to a lengthy career as an executive secretary for senior banking executives. Anne and Roy returned to Calgary in 1977 where Roy started a car leasing business and Anne continued her career until retirement in 1989.

Anne and Roy enjoyed travelling yearly, often with close friends. They were active in bridge, curling, skiing, and golfing. In 1969, Anne was Ladies Club Champion at the Board of Trade C.C. They also golfed many years at the Willow Park Golf and Country Club. Anne was actively involved on the Ladies Committee and became Ladies President in 1992. After decades of golfing, she finally scored a hole-in-one at age 76. Anne played in duplicate bridge competitions regularly in later life. She achieved an ACBL Life Master status in 2018.

Anne was a wonderful, amazing wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.

She will be dearly missed by her children, John (Harlene), Marijean, and James (Kathy); her grandchildren, Rory (Clara), and Neaqeah; and her great-granddaughter, Abigail. She is also survived by her extended family, Chrissy, Sydney, and Sarah. Anne was predeceased by her husband, Roy in 2008 and grandson, Farín in 1980.

The family is planning a private Celebration of Anne’s Life at a later date. Condolences, memories, and photos may be shared and viewed here.

The family would like to thank the staff of the AgeCare Midnapore Evergreen unit for the kind and compassionate care they provided Anne.
