Obituary of David Cox

February 5, 1962 – Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan

October 26, 2022 – Medicine Hat, Alberta

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of David Cox on Wednesday, October 26, 2022, at the age of 60 years.

David was born in Moose Jaw, SK, and moved with his family to Calgary in 1971. He graduated from Queen Elizabeth High School in 1980 and later obtained a diploma in Cinema, Television, and Radio Arts from SAIT in 1992.

He had a long-time interest in music and drama, and spent several enjoyable years with the Calgary Stampede Marching Show Band. He also loved to travel and particularly enjoyed the band’s trip to England, where his grandparents had the opportunity to see him perform. Another highlight during this time was his involvement in the “Smallville Town Band” for a scene in the Superman 3 movie filmed in Calgary.

After High School, he was employed by the Calgary Exhibition & Stampede where, as an usher at the Saddledome, he experienced many concerts, sporting events, and the run-up to the Stanley Cup in 1989.

In 1997 he moved to Medicine Hat where he began a career as a coach driver for Totem and then Traxx Coach Lines. He loved driving his bus throughout Western Canada and Alaska. During the winters, he was the official driver for the Swift Current Broncos and then the Medicine Hat Tigers. During the summers, he drove sightseeing tours through the Rocky Mountains, most recently with Tauck Tours. He was very well respected as a driver, receiving many accolades and compliments from both Tour Directors and tourists.

David is survived by his parents Alan and Hilda Cox, his sisters, Ruth Keitges (Brad), and Jane Kolodnicki (Mike); and four nieces: Michelle Masciuch (Anson), Samantha Keitges, Alison Kolodnicki, and Lauren Kolodnicki.

We will all miss David very much, his droll sense of humour, the love of his work, and his devotion to his family.
