Obituary of Wayne Goddard

March 8, 1945 - Vermilion, Alberta

November 2, 2022 - Calgary, Alberta

Frederick “Wayne” Goddard, of Calgary, AB, passed away on Wednesday, November 2, 2022, at the age of 77 years.

He was born March 8, 1945, in Vermilion, AB to Frederick and Lilian Goddard. His father farmed a variety of field crops, but also ran a pool hall, barber shop, and movie theatre, the last of which encouraged Wayne's interest in film and photography from a young age.

He graduated with a history degree from the University of Alberta and intended to continue in Environmental Design at the University of Calgary, while working for Alberta Social Services.

Wayne was passionate about film photography, urban planning, architectural and automotive design, and metallurgy. He was an avid reader, loved to discuss current events, and had an encyclopedic knowledge of all his interests. He loved his neighbours and the community of Crescent Heights. His quirky (often mischievous) sense of humour and his ability to rattle off the perfect quote or reference for any situation will be dearly missed.

Wayne is survived by his son Ted (Nona), his granddaughter Quinn, his sister Genie, and his nephew and nieces, Jason, Joanne, and Jaime. He was predeceased by his parents, Frederick and Lilian; and his sister Gail. Condolences, memories, and photos may be shared and viewed here.

In living memory of Wayne Goddard, a tree will be planted in the Ann & Sandy Cross Conservation Area by McInnis & Holloway Funeral Homes, Chapel of the Bells, 2720 Centre Street North, Calgary, AB T2E 2V6, Telephone: 403-243-8200.
