Obituary of Leland Curtis English

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Leland Curtis English on Wednesday, November 2, 2022, at the age of 31 years.
Leland loved life and was always humble and present with either his family or friends. He had a big heart, with a generous and kind spirit. Leland had a great sense of humour and he was an animated storyteller. Leland enjoyed skateboarding, gaming, cooking, and really enjoyed swimming with his daughter. He was very connected to his community and with his easygoing nature, he had many friends. His family was everything to him. Leland was a loving father, son, brother, grandson, uncle, and nephew. Most of all, Aleiha was his life; he was a devoted dad to her and was always there for Aleiha, right from the day she was born.
Leland is survived by his mother Heather Meguinis; his daughter Aleiha; Aleiha’s mom Krista; his twin brother Elden; his sister Nizhoni; his grandma Diane Meguinis; his nephews, Keaton, Kyrie, and Neeko; his aunties, Jodi and Wendy; his uncles, Ryan, Tyler, and Shareef; his godparents, Uncle Jim and Auntie Vera Delgai; his grandparents, Gerald, Leonard, Pauline, Donna, and Karen; and numerous cousins and extended family from the Two Guns, Meguinis, Crowchild, and Dodginghorse families. Leland also had numerous relatives from the Kainai, Piikani, and Dine Nations.
Leland was predeceased by his father Rodney English; his brother Theoren Meguinis; his grandparents, Helen Meguinis, Harold Crowchild; his uncles, Brian and Dave; his aunties, Anne and Violet; his cousins, baby Jayles, Lance, Mary Jane, DeeDee, and Richard; and many friends from Tsuut’ina.
Wake Services will be held at the Residence of Heather Meguinis on Monday, November 7, 2022 at 6:00 p.m.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Spirit Catholic Church (10827 – 24th Street S.W., Calgary, AB) on Tuesday, November 8, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. Condolences, memories, and photos can also be shared and viewed here. The family would like to extend a thank you to all first responders and also to all the people who have included Leland’s name in their traditional prayers and ceremonies.
