Obituary of Julie Paul
February 8, 1929 – Hanna, Alberta
November 8, 2022 – Calgary, Alberta
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Julie Paul (A.K.A Grandma Ducky) on Tuesday, November 8, 2022, at the age of 93 years.
Julie was born in Hanna, AB, on February 8, 1929, and moved to Calgary, AB, as a young girl. Later on, she went to secretarial school and her first job was at Industrial Roads and Equipment. Soon after, Julie met Bruce at a Christmas party hosted by Industrial Roads and Equipment. They were married on June 6, 1953, in Calgary.
Julie raised two children, Joanne, and Larry. She also worked part-time as a retail clerk in the shoe department at Sears for over 35 years. Julie is most remembered for her love of animals. She had many cats and dogs as pets over her lifetime. Julie and Bruce spent many hours hosting family birthdays and holidays together; family was very important. They enjoyed road trips to Banff and Radium Hot Springs frequently, and Julie travelled to Denver, Colorado, on many occasions to visit her brother Stan Smerey and his wife Judy.
Julie is remembered by her son and daughter-in-law Larry and Elaine; granddaughters, Tracie Taylor, and Kimberlee Favel; four great-grandchildren, Nicholas Favel, Zachery Favel, Kendra Taylor, and Keara Taylor, all of Calgary and Airdrie, AB; as well as nephew Steven Smerey of Denver, Colorado.

Memorial Services will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Chapel of The Bells, 2720 Centre Street North, Calgary, AB), on Friday, November 25, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. Graveside Service to follow at Queen’s Park Mausoleum.
