Obituary of Egon Max Poley

Egon Poley of Calgary, AB, passed away on Wednesday, November 16, 2022 at the age of 93 years.

Egon was born in Duesseldorf, Germany on June 28, 1929. He immigrated to Canada in 1951; eventually obtained employment with the Calgary Board of Education as a painter.

Egon married Irmgard Ropertz in November of 1957. They remained happily married until her passing in 2006. Egon was especially proud of his grandchildren and great-granddaughter, who all provided him with many happy moments which he cherished. Egon enjoyed the outdoors and had a special passion for his backyard and garden. He was always seen to be puttering in the yard, which gave him a great sense of joy.

Egon is survived by his daughter Carmen Poley of Aldergrove, BC, and son Ken Poley (Holly) of Calgary, AB. He is also survived by three grandchildren, Melissa Maeots, Eric Poley, and Adam Poley (Emma), and one great-granddaughter, Dawson Poley, all of Calgary, AB. Egon was predeceased by his wife Irmgard, and his two sisters, Renata Ramsburg (Bill) and Gudrun Lindley (George) of Baltimore, Maryland.
