Obituary of David James Burdon

 

August 2, 1931 - Montreal, Quebec

December 4, 2022 - Calgary, Alberta

 

Jim Burdon, passed away peacefully at the Foothills Hospital on Sunday, December 4, 2022 at the age of 91 years.

 

Jim grew up in Valois & Léry, Quebec, and worked for many years at Pratt & Whitney Canada in Systems Administration. In 1987, he retired to the Eastern Townships (Magog) where he obtained his Lay Preachers certification with the Quebec Sherbrooke Presbytery and preached in the United Church for many years. He moved with his family to Calgary in 1998 and was recognized as a Lay Preacher by Calgary Presbytery. He served as a pulpit supply in various churches in both the Calgary and Foothills Presbyteries. Since 1999, he ran his own antique furniture repair business. He was a skilled carpenter and loved the outdoors, canoeing, camping, and fishing. He passed this love on to all his children.

 

Jim is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Gail (nee Olser), his daughter Laurie, sons Jamie (Nadine) and David (Magan), and his stepdaughter Wendy (Chris). Jim had many siblings, Douglas, Roy, John “Jack”, Norma, and Neil.  

 

At Jim’s request, no service will be held. A private family service will be held at a later date. Condolences, memories, and photos may be shared and viewed here.
