Obituary of Rose Edelson

April 13, 1931 – Winnipeg, Manitoba

December 5, 2022 – Calgary, Alberta

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Rose Edelson, beloved wife of the late Jack Edelson, on Monday, December 5, 2022, at the age of 91.

Rose leaves to treasure her memory her son Marc (Brenda) Edelson, daughter Marla Edelson, son-in-law Asher Pertman, three grandchildren Talia Phillips (Andrew), Jeremy Pertman (Hadassa) and Tyler Pertman (Dinah); five great-grandchildren Sorelle, Ayla, Mireille, David, and Ella; nephew Marc (Lucy) Schneidman, and niece Marla Schneidman.

The youngest child of Beril and Toba Goldstep, Rose was born April 13, 1931, in Winnipeg, MB, and raised in Vancouver, BC. On October 28, 1951, she married Jack Edelson, and they shared 65 years together in Calgary. Rose was very devoted to her family, her many friends, and was actively involved in the Calgary Jewish community. She was an avid golfer and bridge player, accomplished seamstress, and fantastic cook and hostess.

Rose was predeceased by her husband Jack, daughter Sharon Pertman, brother Meyer Goldstep, and sisters Mashie Goldstep, Minnie Goldstep and Shirley Schneidman.

Funeral Services will be held at the Beth Tzedec Synagogue (1325 Glenmore Trail SW, Calgary, AB) on Friday, December 9, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. with interment to follow at Beth Tzedec Memorial Park (122 Shalom Way SE, Calgary, AB). In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes may be made to Canadian Hadassah-WIZO Calgary Centre, Tel 403-253-4612.
