Burnham Milley (Burnie) passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 6, 2022 at Foothills Medical Centre in Calgary at the age of 102 years. He was born on July 15, 1920 in Cape Breton Nova Scotia in Dominion No. 6 (Town of Donkin). He was predeceased by his ten brothers and sisters.

He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force during W.W. 2 and was radio and navigations operator. He was stationed at Torbay NF. Upon returning home, he moved to Toronto where he met and married Edith F. W. Walker on October 22, 1949. Burnie and Edith had one son; Thomas Edwin born March 8, 1958.

Burnie was employed in furniture sales for several years and finished with the T. Eaton company in the corporate design area. After retirement, both Edith and Burnie followed their son to Calgary AB where Tom was obtaining a law degree. Burnie then started selling real estate in the Calgary area.

Burnie loved his family dearly. He never hesitated to make a phone call to them throughout the year to keep in touch. He and Edith drove many times to Donkin in the summers to spend time and to visit.

Burnie was predeceased by their son Thomas Edwin on September 6, 2010, his wife Edith Florence on May 1, 2013 and their grandson Spencer W. Milley on August 5, 2018. Burnie has two remaining grandchildren, Jaye Milley and Brittany Milley.

As per Burnie’s wishes, there will be no formal celebration of life.
