Obituary of Kathryn Galloway (nee Robertson)

Kathryn (Kathy) Galloway of Calgary, AB, passed away on Thursday, December 8, 2022 at the age of 92 years.

Kathryn was born in Frontier, SK, the oldest of five children. Kathy went to school in southern Saskatchewan, eventually residing in Regina, where she worked as an X-ray technician. Regina is also where Kathy met Ben Erhardt, they were married in June 1953. Their first son Brian (Joan) was born in Regina. Kathy made many friends in Regina that became life-long pals that stayed in touch through Oil Wives, Bridge Clubs, curling and other social activities.  

In October 1955 Kathy and Ben moved to Calgary where they bought a home in the new district of Meadowlark Park and where their second son, Keith (Cathy) and a daughter, Heather were born. Kathy was active in the UCW at Riverview United and later Living Sprit United Church. June 1962 brought a major change with the sudden passing of Ben. Kathy accepted the role of mother, homemaker and provider, returning to the workforce as a medical receptionist. Later that decade, Kathy met and then married William Galloway in June 1969. This introduced a second daughter Denise (Richard) to the family from Bill’s first marriage.

Kathy and Bill shared a love of golf and spent many days at the Turner Valley Golf Club. A trailer near the golf course became a weekend second home. Golfing holidays all across Canada were a shared passion. Kathy endured more loss in 2004 when Bill passed and again in 2016 when Keith died.

Kathy enjoyed spending time with her four grandchildren, Chad (Kaylee), Jodi (Chris), Nicole, and Robyn (Andy) and three great-grandchildren, Brady, Leon, and Remy at the home in Meadowlark Park. As per her fervent wish, Kathy stayed in her home of 67 years until she became too frail whereupon she transferred to Southwood Hospice.
