Obituary of Shawna Lee Bull Bear

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved daughter Shawna Lee Bull Bear of Siksika Nation, AB, on Monday, December 12, 2022, at the age of 34 years, surrounded by her loving families.

Shawna was known for her sense of humour and witty remarks. Her love of laughter and joking about everything always brought joy to those around her. She had a humbleness about her that was endearing. Her love and respect for family was evident as she shared with others on Facebook. Shawna had a strong belief in God, while in the hospital she shared with Auntie Leandra to thank everyone for the prayers, that she really appreciated them and loved everyone. Shawna made her Cursillo in June of 2010, her theme song was “I’ll Never Forget You”, and her family was St. Lucy. Shawna also worked at Cursillo after making hers as she wanted to help others become closer to God.

Shawna leaves to mourn her mom Wanda Bull Bear, her father Shane Waterchief (Melanie), her sisters Sheena (Desmond), Joanne (Jason), Treyanne, Rylee, Malerie; her brothers Shane Jr. (Jasmine), Dustin, Malcolm, Xavier; and her loving partner Aldwin Carnero-Roxas, her beautiful children, Darious, Randy, and Hayven; and her nieces and nephews, James, Vera, Dally, Deserea, Olive, Paityn and Deshane. Grandma Vivian Running Rabbit, traditional grandparents Mario and Karen Waterchief, maternal aunties and uncles, Cherylene (Dion), Sherry (Fabian), Stacey (Merlon), Quinton (Lydia), Ken (Marg), Keith (Rhonda) and Kendra. Paternal aunts and uncles Raymonda, Ernest, Verna, Lorelee, Carla, Gina, Wesley, Leandra (Boyce), Beryl, Tracy, Late Dallas, Shayna, Brett, Katerina, Chantelle, Richelle and numerous cousins, extended families of the Breakers, Stevens, Bull Bears, Poor Eagles, Waterchief, Cutters and Big Bull families. The family would like to apologize to the families we may have missed as there are too numerous to mention.

Shawna was predeceased by her maternal grandparents Lorraine Stevens and Wally Stevens, and paternal grandparents Raymond and Reverend Margaret Waterchief.

Wake Services will be held at the Gordon Yellowfly Memorial Arbour (Siksika Nation) on Monday, December 19, 2022 at 6:00 p.m. Funeral Service will be celebrated at the Gordon Yellowfly Memorial Arbour (Siksika Nation) on Tuesday, December 20, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at Reverend Margaret Waterchief Cemetery on Siksika Nation, AB.  Condolences, memories and photos may be shared and viewed here.
