Obituary of Jason Arlo Zajdlik

June 11, 1973 - Chatham, Ontario

December 13, 2022 - Calgary, Alberta

Jason Zajdlik beloved husband of Mara of Calgary, AB, passed away on Tuesday, December 13, 2022 at the age of 49 years.

Jason was born in Chatham, Ontario on June 11, 1973.  He resided in Mckay’s Corners until 1988 before moving to Chatham. Jason graduated from the University of Calgary with a degree in Civil Engineering. Shortly thereafter moved with Mara to San Jose California where they stayed for 9 years before moving back to Calgary in 2015.

Jason married Mara in 2009 and they were blessed with the birth of the three children, Elena (11), Owen (9) and Vivian (7). Jason accomplished much in his life but was particularly proud of his children.

He was a committed volunteer and coach with Northwest Ringette and Crowfoot hockey in Calgary.

Jason was the co-founder of the El Tigre and DGA Golf tournament. He enjoyed soccer, music, hiking and coaching his children’s teams.

Jason ’s most memorable vacations were his honeymoon in Greece trip to Hawaii and road trips with his family.

Jason cherished his friendships which were widespread across Canada and California. His humour and caring personality created long lasting friendships. His friends have been a tremendous support to Mara, the children, and the rest of the family.

He will be most remembered for his engagement with family. Jason prioritized time with his brother, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. He set aside time to regularly contact each of his nieces and nephews setting the standard for being a loving Uncle. Uncle Jay is sorely missed by his nieces and nephews.  His brothers will miss their little brother Jay, forever.

Besides his loving wife Mara who had not left his side, Jason is survived by his children, Elena (11), Owen (9) and Vivian (7). Jason is also survived by his three brothers Barry (Anne Marie) of Rockwood, ON, Larry (Britta) of Northbrook, ON, and David (Janet) of Calgary, AB. Jason was loved by his nieces and nephews Barry and Anne Marie – Adam, Sam and Elise, Larry and Britta - Taylor and Kaitlyn, David and Janet – Madeline and Lauren.  Jason is also survived by his cousins Jose-David, Mauricio, Raquel, Guillermo, Niels and Bianca his Tia Esperanza, Tia Maruca and Aunt Mary Lou and his Uncle John.

Jason was predeceased by his parents Frank and Hilda, his nephew Liam, and his Aunt Lillian.

Funeral Services will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Crowfoot, 82 Crowfoot Circle NW, Calgary, AB), on Sunday, December 18, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. Reception to follow in the Hospitality Centre at the Funeral Home. Condolences, memories and photos can also be shared and viewed here.
