Obituary of Marga Miller (nee Brock)

February 28, 1928 – Zdunska-Wola, Poland

December 14, 2022 – Calgary, Alberta

Marga Miller of Calgary, AB, passed away on Wednesday, December 14, 2022, at the age of 94 years.

Marga was born in Zdunska-Wola, Poland on February 28, 1928 to Edmund and Valerie (nee Oziminski) Brock. After the war, her family made it to northern Germany, and she moved to Frankfurt in 1952 where she undertook a CPA apprenticeship. It is also where she met Zeno. She immigrated to Canada in 1953 with her family and worked in Toronto for a year before reuniting with Zeno in Calgary. They married in 1954. Marga worked for many small to medium sized businesses in Calgary as a trusted and dependable lead accountant. She retired in 1992.

Marga lived and worked for her family and friends, helping wherever and whenever she could. In her retirement years, Marga particularly enjoyed, and had a passion for baking and cooking for her friends and family. Marga was also known for her numerous jokes which brought levity to many of life’s situations. Her practical and steady constitution also made her a confidant and mentor to many.

Marga was predeceased by her beloved husband, Zeno and her siblings, Nelly, Paul and Anita. She is survived by her sons, Gerald and Eric, and their respective spouses, Chris Binert and Valerie Cusano; and her grandchildren, Nadia Goymer-Miller and Patrick Miller. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Else Brock, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Park Memorial, 5008 Elbow Drive SW, Calgary, AB) on Wednesday, January 4, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. with a reception to follow.
