Obituary of Pablo Emilio Rojas Romero

Pablo Rojas Romero, beloved husband of Blanca Dimate de Rojas, of Calgary, AB, passed away on Wednesday, December 14, 2022, at the age of 96 years.

Pablo was born in Une, Cundinamarca, Colombia on February 11, 1926. He immigrated to Canada in 2019 after travelling back and forth from Colombia for over seventeen years. Pablo graduated from the Normal de Tunja with a degree in education. Pablo married Blanca on December 1, 1951. Pablo accomplished much throughout his life and was particularly proud of his knowledge of world history and politics, as well as his family accomplishments.

Pablo enjoyed travelling where he learned about culture and historic events. One of Pablo’s greatest joys in life spending time outdoors and enjoying a nice cup of ice cream with his loved ones. Although Pablo loved Colombia, he always had great admiration for Canada and always dreamt of living there one day. Pablo’s dream came true in 2020 when he became a permanent resident of Canada.

He will be most remembered for his ability to story-tell and his incredible charisma. Pablo had an expansive recollection of memories and historical events.  

Besides his loving wife Blanca, Pablo is survived by his two daughters, Nancy, and Yolima; as well as his four grandchildren, Juan, Sofia, Santiago, and Carolina.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, December 22, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. (MST). Family and friends who are unable to attend in person are invited to join Mr. Rojas Romero’s service streamed live (see below) on the day of the service.
