Condolences
Sylvia and I were saddened to learn of your father’s passing. I had the privilege of working with Bill in Winnipeg, Montreal and calgary. Bill was bar none the best boss I ever worked for giving his subordinates the freedom to do their job without interference but always knowing he was there to assist them if required. We have fond memories of being entertained by Bill and Sally both at bank functions and their own home. Bill will be missed by all who were lucky enough to know this amazing man.
Our sincere condolences for your loss.

Very wonderful person. Worked for/with Bill a number of years at Royal Bank. He treated everyone as an equal. he will be missed and fondly remembered. Dave & Debbie
For 20 years Bill came to our farm in Hanna to hunt with Ron and his dad. There were so many stories told, laughs and good times had. Every year we couldn't wait for Bill and Bill Gargas to returned. Your dad was the most gracious and generous man.
We made a lifelong friend.
From my family to yours please accept our deepest sympathies.

Mr. McCartney, who always insisted I call him Bill was an outstanding leader and mentor and the embodiment of class. I was a comparatively junior officer back in the mid to late 80’s but he treated all as equals. I will always fondly remember our interactions both in Calgary and Montreal where I was free and in in fact encouraged to “speak truth to power”. My sympathies to his family.
Bill was my best friend. I knew him for 65 years and we worked together 3 times in different functions at the Royal Bank. In the 1970s my wife Lyn met His Sally. In the ensuing years we got to know each other well. They became great friends. Bill was intelligent, had common sense and a warm engaging personality. These attributes ensured his outstanding career! In the early 1980s Bill and I were transferred to Calgary. The close relationship continued. In the early 1990s Bill returned to Calgary to join in my retirement. We took up fishing and played some golf .Over the next 25 years the 4 of us engaged in many activities including spending parts of several winters in California and us visiting them at their cottage in B.C. Four years ago we lost Sally and shortly after Bills' health began to fail. Subsequently he deteriorated and never recovered.
Bill and Sally we will miss you forever
Lyn andJohn.
