December 18, 2022 - Calgary, Alberta

Steven Faust, also known as Stefan and Istvan of Calgary, AB, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, December 18, 2022 at the age of 87 years.

Stefan was born in Katoly, Hungary on December 4, 1935, and immigrated to Canada in 1969.  His early life was a struggle, he lost his mother at the age of three and his father and brother at the age of six. He entered the construction industry at the tender age of fourteen becoming a licensed stone mason at age sixteen. He was an outstanding stone mason for 45 years and after retirement, he worked in the Britannia wine store for ten years.

Stefan loved the freedom of Canada, it’s fresh air and to hear the birds singing. Stefan was born to play chess and played competitively until the age of 84 years, when he tied for second place in the Canadian Open. He was also a very fierce Scrabble player and won the local tournament twice. He had many interests, always presented perfectly; he was an exceptionally brilliant man.

Stefan was very proud of his accomplishments in life, and he passionately looked for the truth and justice in his world.  He was a kind and gentle person, admired and enjoyed by all who knew him.

Besides his loving wife Bonnie Noyce Faust, Stefan is survived by his son Chris Faust; and stepsons, David Noyce and Christopher Noyce all of Calgary. He is also survived by his grandsons, Peter and Gabor Faust and great-grandsons, Petike, Adamka and Gabor all in Hungary. Stefan was predeceased by his parents and his son Anton and two brothers in Hungary, and his brother Antony in Germany.

echo still within our thoughts, our words, our hearts.
