Condolences
I got to know Irma when her parents took the call to Zion Lutheran Church, Fremont WI. She and her friend Fern often came on weekends from the Chicago area to help her parents with yard work and gardening.. They were always a delight to visit with and knowing their carefree joy and attitude passed it on to others. After their retirement, they had the opportunity to live in a quaint little house next to the parsonage where Irma's parents had lived. They always welcomed visitors to their home and the visits were a delight. Sharing hospitality and their wisdom and concern for others. Never judgmental and good listeners. Always added the flavor of humor :) After Fern had passed, Irma continued to live alone and taking care of everything despite limited eyesight. She never allowed aging to keep her from doing the things she loved. You never would have known she wore hearing aids. Always stayed physically active and enjoyed learning new things. She has been a gift to everyone who knew her. Leaving great memories , truly a child of God
My memories of Irma go back as long as I can remember. My dad's sister, Fern Drechsel, and Irma started rooming together in Chicago sometime after I was born. Although Irma wasn't "officially" part of our family, I never knew the difference, as my memories of Aunt Fern always include Irma. I remember them visiting us when I was a child in Southern Illinois, and they would bring their slide projector and slides, to show us slides of their travels. I remember visiting them in Chicago when they were on Lake Shore Drive, and we walked just a couple of blocks to the beach on Lake Michigan. Yes, this was a long time ago!! After spending their working years in Chicago, they retired to Wisconsin, where we enjoyed visiting them in the country, across the road from the dairy farm belonging to their good friends, the Krenke's. Aunt Fern had medical issues the last several years of her life, and Irma took such wonderful care of her. Even after Aunt Fern moved to the nursing home, Irma would have someone drive her to the nursing home almost every day to help with her. All of this, despite the fact that she was legally blind! I cannot describe her any better than her sisters already have, but I wholeheartedly agree with them! I am thankful that God allowed me to spend time with Irma Lucht. Pam, Leroy and Maxine Drechsel
