Obituary of Janice Margaret RENNE

July 5, 1940 – Vermilion, Alberta April 22, 2019 – Calgary, Alberta It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our much-beloved wife, mother, grandmother and aunt, Janice Margaret Renne (née Omness). She left this earth on Easter Monday, April 22, after an eight-month battle with stomach cancer. Born in Vermilion, Alberta on July 5, 1940, Janice married Thomas Renne on July 2, 1960. They spent the next nearly 59 years of their married life in Bowness. Janice was a school teacher at Dr. J.K. Mulloy and Bowcroft Elementary School for many years before her true passion was fulfilled: becoming a mother to two daughters, Kathleen and Colleen. While they were growing up, Janice’s life revolved around her children, for whose behalf she volunteered extensively, both inside the school and out. Music was another of Janice’s passions. She played piano, and she sang with the Festival Chorus and the Calgary Philharmonic. For almost two decades, Janice also headed up the Bowness Sing-along Group and enjoyed sharing her love of “old-time” songs by performing at various seniors’ residences around the City. Janice leaves to mourn her husband, Thomas; her daughters, Kathleen (Cameron) and Colleen (Nathan); as well as her four beloved grandsons, Wolfe, Orion, Beckett and Chael, three of whom she saw baptized just the day before she died. Janice was predeceased by her parents, Ruth and Rufus Omness; her sisters, Lurline Hobbis and Irene Hackett, and her brother, Gerald Omness. Thank you to the staff at Glenmore Carewest for helping Janice during her final days. Grandma, you left us way too soon. We all miss you so much. We pray you are in a place where you have found happiness with your siblings and parents. ‘Til we meet again, Mom….We will always love you. A memorial celebrating Janice’s life will be held at Foothills United Church on Monday, May 6, 2019, at 12:00 p.m. Graveside Service to follow at Queen’s Park Cemetery. Reception to follow in the Church Hall. Condolences may be forwarded through www.McInnisandHolloway.com. If friends so desire, memorial donations may be made in Janice’s name to My Gut Feeling – Stomach Cancer Foundation of Canada.
