Obituary of Helmer Hans Hoglund

Helmer Hoglund of Calgary, AB, passed away in total peace with family at his side. He fought to outlive cancer and chemo complications for six years, until his sudden death on Wednesday, December 21, 2022 at the age of 80 years.

His family was his life. Helmer leaves behind his devastated wife, Ruth. They met in December 1965 and immediately knew it was a lifelong relationship. Their marriage on July 30, 1966, was the beginning of a long love story and a partnership. He was the proud father of Andrea (Kelly), and Reid (Isabel). His biggest joy was his grandchildren, Logan, Mason, Hannah and Elliott. He was a much-loved papa and was known to have a story or advice for every topic or problem. Helmer will also be remembered by his siblings, Ray, Don (Eileen), Diane (Jerry), and sister-in-law, Sylvia, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Helmer was a master electrician and retired from a long career with Trans Alta. He and Ruth enjoyed many trips to Hawaii but his true passion was the great outdoors with wonderful memories of the Wapiti River area in NW, AB where he grew up.
