Judith Watt

Obituary of Judith Louise Watt

May 3, 1948 - Vancouver, British Columbia
December 26, 2022 - Calgary, Alberta

Judith Watt, loving wife of the late Rick Hardisty of Calgary, AB, passed away on Monday, December 26, 2022 at the age of 74 years.

Born and raised in the Vancouver area, Judith and Rick moved to Calgary in 1980 where they raised their children, Megan, and Sam Hardisty. Judith’s passion for community came through in both her varied career and volunteer commitments, including time spent at the Calgary Council of Alberta’s Home and School Association, the Coast Plaza Hotel, Diabetes Canada, the Calgary Public Library, and the Ujamaa Grandmas.

Strongly reflected in the deep friendships she built and maintained, Judith’s love for connecting with cultures and people comes through in her time teaching in Montreal, living overseas in Saudi Arabia, and even closer to home in her decades long book club. An avid walker and lover of gardening, Judith could frequently be found on hiking trails, walking paths or simply the sidewalks of her neighbourhood - most-likely deep in conversation or uproarious laughter with whomever was lucky enough to accompany her.

Her warmth and kindness left a lasting impression on anyone she met, even if just in passing, ensuring her memory will carry on.
