Obituary of Kevin John McCarthy

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of Kevin John McCarthy of Rockyview County, AB. Kevin passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 4, 2023.

Kevin is survived by his siblings:  Maureen (Ken) Schnirer, Sean (Cory) McCarthy, Sheila McCarthy (Geoffrey Simpson), Christine McCarthy (Shane Leadley), Shannon McCarthy, and James (Tammy) McCarthy; nieces and nephews, Seth, Kylie, Owen, Alena, Madeline, Macklin, Lachlan, Katelyn, and Wyatt. He will be missed by his many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Kevin was predeceased by his parents, Pauline and Bernard McCarthy.

Kevin had many passions including music, restoring trucks, collecting antique tractors, and farming. Harvest was his favorite time of year. Growing up, he loved playing hockey at the Beiseker rink.  Kevin loved Alberta Beef and cooked a great steak.  His wicked sense of humour made us all laugh. Kevin loved to haggle and barter, and was a great support to anyone searching for a deal. He was loyal to his family and loved his nieces and nephews. He adored his pets, Mary, Missy, and Monty. Kevin was a spiritual person with a deep connection to nature and animals. He was honoured for rescuing an endangered owl.  He embraced quiet moments, and contemplation.  Kevin was a proud person who lived with conviction.   He will be forever loved and greatly missed.

A Celebration of Kevin’s Life will be held at the Golden Rod Community Hall (Intersection of highway 772 and township road 272. Limited parking available) on Friday, February 3, 2023, from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.  Condolences, memories, and photos can also be shared and viewed here.
